Notes (1) From here till line 4, Ui. is totally lost. We can find what follows in the Ui. now kept in Germany. Vide Tekin, Taf. 12, p. 49. By the way, it must be pointed out that Şinasi Tekin places this paragraph in a wrong place.

(2) Name of a tune, to be completed as apratitu(lyenaṃ) , cf. TS. A 20 a 6, 33 a 6, 151 b 2, 253 a 8, etc. Stanza of 4 x 25 (5/5/8/7) syllables.

(3) opsi: new form, nom. pl., referring probably to a bovine, according to the Ui. text.

(4) ma(hirsāñ^ä) "buffalos", cf. the complete word in TS. A 301 a 4; according to the context, it must be some kind of ox, "bos Indicus" in that case.

(5) śoś, apparently nom. pl. here, elsewhere obl. pl. (cf. Krause-Thomas, 1960: § 202), designates some small cattle; "sheep" is not at all certain. The preceding word is an epithet, nom. pi. masculine of an adjective *āṣi, derivative of ās "goat", cf. the parallel adjective Toch. B aṣiye (Thomas, 1964, p. 165).

It is also possible to read ytāsmār, but the 1. sg. med. prs. of the verb yät-, yat- "to decorate" is ytäsmār (see Thomas, 1964, p. 129) and the meaning does not fit the context. In that case, if one tries to keep the reading ynāsmār, this form would belong to the verb yā- "to transport", and the formation would follow the pattern of the verbs of movement, cf. *käl-nāsk- (＞ B källāṣṣäṃ) for the verb käl- "to bring".
