Postscript
More than fifty years ago, when I was a young student at the University of Göttingen, I began to learn the Tocharian language under the guidance of Professor Emil Sieg. Since then I have never been able to fully concentrate my attention on Tocharian studies. Without the encouragement from Professors Werner Winter and Georges-Jean Pinault, I would never have ventured to publish my transliterations and translations of the Tocharian A Maitreyasamiti-Nāṭaka texts in book form. I therefore would like to express ṃy sincere thanks to them for their suggestions and corrections. During the past two years we have had a very pleasant cooperation in our work, a cooperation which I can never forget.
